Thank you so much to all of our parent volunteers and helpers! Your time and donations helped to make our party a HUGE success!
Fun at Recess
We are very fortunate this year. Every student in our class was sponsored by an adult/community member to receive a free book each month! Our September books have arrived and the students were SO excited! We wrote thank yous to the people who made this possible and are excited to find out what free book we can get in October!
In this activity, students were challenged to build a bridge using only paper. We studied different types of bridges before they were allowed to work. Students used pennies to test the strength of their bridge.
In this activity students were exploring the properties of materials specifically whether or not they were "insulating" or "conducting". They had hot and cold water bottles and their task was to determine which material best protected their hands from the heat.
Students were challenged to create a hat to protect them from the sun!
In this activity, students had to work together to try and prevent erosion. They were given materials such as cotton balls, paper towels, foil, and tooth picks and were challenged to try and stop their "land" from sliding after a rainstorm.
Students were exploring the question "How does a river flow?" We made paper mountain land forms and sprayed water on them to discover which way the water would flow.
Students worked together to create a "device" to protect their garden from some pesky rabbits who kept getting in. It was fun to watch them work together and be creative to solve this problem.
Headbandz Game to review for our test on Place Value.
Main Idea Bags: Students worked together to determine what each bag was "mostly about" based on the items (details) in each bag.
2nd grade had a Savannah High School football player read to us during Homecoming week!
